When should I expect to receive my first mailing that includes a paper survey or informing me to take the survey online?


The first mailing is expected to take place March 12 – March 20 2020.




Will I receive a paper survey or instructions to complete the census online?


Demographic characteristics and internet connectivity your geographic area will decide if you receive a paper survey.




When is Census Day?


Census Day is April 1, 2020.




When will the Census Bureau deliver the census results to the President and Congress?


During the month of December, the Census Bureau will deliver apportionment counts to the President and Congress. It is required by law that the apportionment be delivered by December 31, 2020.




What type of questions am I expected to answer on the census?


You can expect to answer questions about your age, sex, race, employment, income, and education levels.




Can my information be shared outside of the Census Bureau?


Your personally identifiable information is protected by law. Census Bureau employees are sworn to uphold the confidentiality of your data for life.




Is the census only offered in English?


The complete online census questionnaire will be available in twelve languages.




What if I do not have access to the internet, how can I get a paper copy?


Households identified as having limited access to the internet will be given the opportunity to complete the census through the traditional paper questionnaire.
